In this in-depth workshop, Founder of AEA John Kempf, will describe the principles and the science of agronomic management systems that lead to high-level production in the wine grape industry.
When a truly regenerative ecosystem is in place and functioning well, the need for external inputs becomes less and less!
This course will show you that it is possible to improve your agricultural ecosystem in which:

While the principles and science are transferable to all crops, this course will be focused on wine grape production. John will be discussing:
Understanding plant nutritional requirements at specific growth stages to produce consistent high yields of exceptional wine grapes
Extending the life of grape vines. When nutrition is managed to optimize plant health, vines can live for 60-80 years, instead of 20-25
Managing nutrition to stimulate plant production
Creating resistance to mildew, mealybugs, nematodes, mites, and other pests when nutritional profiles are balanced correctly
Reducing crop water requirements by 20-40% with plant nutrition and soil structure management
Increasing photosynthetic efficiency
Managing fertilizer applications to increase soil and plant health, which fertilizers to avoid, and when to apply products for the greatest economic response
Learning why insects and diseases are attracted to crops with specific nutritional profiles, and how to prevent them
John Kempf is the founder of Advancing Eco Agriculture, a regenerative agronomy consulting and plant nutrition products company. John is the host of the Regenerative Agriculture podcast, and is known for developing crop nutrition management systems that increase yields and profitability while reducing the need for fertilizers and pesticides.
We will also be joined by Elizabeth Whitlow, Executive Director of Regenerative Organic Alliance, and Anna Brittain, Executive Director of Napa Green. Elizabeth Whitlow will share why the Rodale Institute, Patagonia, and Dr. Bronners came together in 2018 to form the Regenerative Organic Alliance and create the Regenerative Organic Certified® program. Napa Green will share an introduction to their innovative Napa Green Vineyard certification which focuses on climate action, regenerative carbon farming, as well as social equity, diversity and inclusion.
Please note: This is not an entry-level workshop. We are assuming a foundational understanding of managing soil fertility and crop health. In this course, John will be describing how to achieve an elevated level of soil and plant performance, and will be building on many of the webinars and resources available online.
